As aromatherapy becomes a home staple, many consumers are confused about choosing between “natural essential oils” and “synthetic fragrances”. Recently, industry experts reminded that checking the ingredient list first when selecting aromatherapy products can help avoid health hazards from low-quality products.
It is understood that natural plant essential oils are extracted through distillation, cold pressing and other processes, with rich aroma layers and no pungent smell, which are not easy to cause discomfort after long-term use.
Synthetic fragrances, mostly chemical compounds, are cheap and have strong fragrance, but may contain harmful substances such as phthalates that irritate the respiratory mucosa. Experts point out that high-quality aromatherapy products will clearly mark “100% natural plant essential oil” and “no chemical additives”, and products with vague ingredient lists or marked “artificial flavors” should be purchased with caution.

For sensitive groups, experts suggest prioritizing alcohol-free and preservative-free products. Before purchasing, dilute the essential oil and apply it to the inner wrist, and observe for 24 hours to ensure no abnormalities before use.
At the same time, aromatherapy products with prices much lower than the market average are likely to be mixed with cheap ingredients, so do not ignore health risks for cheapness.
